Welcome to Week Six of the 30 Day Song Challenge! This week's topic is "Your Favorite Song from a Movie Soundtrack."
There were so many directions to go with this one - I love movies almost as much as I love music. Picking my absolute favorite soundtrack song wasn't really that hard, though - I knew my selection the second I saw the topic. It's a song that I listen to regularly, because it's upbeat and catchy and I can't help but sing along every time I hear it. Even if you haven't seen the movie (as much as I loved it, I'm the first to admit that it wasn't Kevin Smith's best work ever), you've certainly heard the song - it's a cover of a much older classic.
So without further blah blah blahing, I present - Build Me Up Buttercup, covered by The Goops, from the Mallrats soundtrack.
As a bonus treat, here's another hidden gem from Clerks - the first (and best!) Kevin Smith movie - Chewbacca, by Supernova.
In keeping with the multimedia theme, next week's Song Challenge will be "Favorite Song from a Television Show." (Theme song or soundtrack)
That Buttercup version would be a cover
ReplyDeleteand a soundtrack. I had not heard this cover. The Foundations (that's a dumb band name) original hit is a favorite of mine. It was used in "There's Something About Mary" which is one of the best comedies ever IMHO.
I like the original version, too. And I agree, Something About Mary is one of the greatest movies ever.
