Friday Fragments

Friday Fragments is brought to you by Mrs4444!

Mommy's Idea

Softball game was a mixed success last week. I ended up playing catcher, and lob softball pitches are freaking hard to catch. It was embarrassing. I did reach base twice, once on a walk and once on a base hit. That's right, 20+ years after I first put on a softball glove I finally got my first hit. It was thrilling.

After the game I ended up at a mexican restaurant for karaoke night. I'm good at karaoke because I have a freakish capacity for remembering song lyrics. I brought the house down with my rendition of Ice Ice Baby. I'm just that cool.

Here's the blurry evidence, as posted on Facebook.

My favorite photo comment?

Holy shit, is Jene doing karaoke? Do my eyes deceive me?

No, that's really me. I like to make an ass out of myself every once in a while. I'm considering an encore this evening just so I can get it on tape.

Speaking of random songs from back in the day, C and I had a great time this week watching VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the '90s. Every one of them was an instant flashback, and it was great to see all of my old favorites again. It had everything from C&C Music Factory to Eminem to Beastie Boys to Boyz II Men to Kriss Kross to Fiona Apple to the Spice Girls. Of course, Nirvana took the top spot with Smells Like Teen Spirit. No surprise there. I think C was horrified that I knew all of the words to most of the songs.

I see a mix tape in my future...

5 days until postseason baseball starts! I live for this.

I still can't believe it's already October. It feels like September just flew by. I have so many things that I want to do between now and Halloween, so I know that this month will just fly right by, too. This weekend we have the renaissance festival, next weekend we'll do HallZOOween, week after that we have a birthday party, week after that we're in Virginia for a mini vacation, and then comes Halloween.

We also have grand plans of throwing an adults-only party at some point this season. We've decided that our deck is the perfect place for a grown-up keg party. I'm going out at lunch to buy some gear to get a batch of hard cider brewing.

My favorite thing about fall is the food. On Sunday I started my day with a pumpkin spice latte from Dunkin, then made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and homemade chicken pot pie. There's a gruyere mac & cheese in the plans for this evening. Of course, the cooler weather and the leaves are nice, too!

Office QOTW:

Pam comes in late to work and explains to Dwight that their daycare center is too far away and the traffic is terrible. Dwight (the new building owner) mentions that there's going to be a daycare center opening right in their own building, and offers to take Jim and Pam on a tour.

Dwight: [walking over to four metal buckets] We come fully equipped with a restroom, feeding troff, play bucket, and room for a plant.

Jim: Who will be watching the children?

Dwight: No one. The door locks from the outside, escape is impossible.

  1. Nice to see another softball player. I've been laying fast pitch for many years. Our team isn't all that good, but I enjoy playing nonetheless. And you DO NOT want to EVER hear me sing. As in NEVER. Yeah, I'm that bad.

We love the The Office here. It's our favorite show.

    Um.....go Phillies!

The parents are at a softball showcase with big sis Allyson (15) she is a really good softball player. Last year in 9th grade she was placed in the school's hall of fame because she had the highest batting average in the history of the school including all grades and boys baseball. I am a Mom-Mom I have to brag but that was very cool!
    Have a great weekend!
